Are You Willing To Do Whatever It Takes To Be Happy?

“I want to know if you can disappoint another to be true to yourself. If you can bare the accusation of betrayal and not betray your own soul”.

These words are by Oriah Mountain Dreamer. Check out the poem ‘The Invitation’ here if you haven’t already.

What I love about this verse, is that it speaks into a real challenge. A real invitation to act on the question of “Am I really loving me here?” “Am I willing to do WHATEVER IT TAKES to be happy and true?”.

Sometimes that means letting go of the people pleaser persona. Sometimes that means letting go of needing to be liked or loved by another. To live in a way that is self respecting; self loving.

This for many is the edge that needs to be crossed. This has been an edge I’ve painstakingly crossed more than once. And I accept that if I really want to be free, happy, open - I must cross this edge again and again.
