6 Steps to Inspire Action

Two men dig a four wheel drive vehicle out of the sand close to the ocean

The other day while in the midst of a de-clutter rampage, I found a soggy, scrunched up piece of paper in a box I hadn’t opened in years.

I suspected it was going to have something cool written on it - I have a tendency to hoard things that carry wisdom or sentimental value.

This time it was wisdom that I’d locked away. I don’t recall where I first came across these questions, I don’t even remember writing them down. But l have vivid and plentiful memories of reading them over and over off that exact piece of paper I’ve been reunited with.

Like a mythical scroll, it has survived the span of at least 4 different houses/apartments I’ve lived in. Id stick it on the fridge, leave it visible on my desk or have it stuck on the bathroom mirror. It’s something that I was unable to lose or misplace, even if I wanted to. The questions written on this piece of paper became a big part of my meditation - confronting and inspiring, always.

So I’ve written them up and put them together in this post. I sincerely hope that for some of you, they are as useful to you as they have been to me.

  1. What do you want to do have or to do? (Even though you might be afraid of it)

  2. What will happen if you don’t take action on this? (How will you feel in 1 year if you haven’t made a start or you don’t make a change?)

  3. What’s the worse case scenario if you go for it?

  4. What’s the most likely scenario to play out by making this change/ taking action?

  5. Is it worth the risk?

  6. What do you need to do right now to make this happen?
