How To Combat Self-Sabotage
4 weeks into the Rhythm Health Mentorship and the energy is huge - I’m feeling blessed to watch the container we have created together continue to grow. A space for true transformation to unfold.
During our group call last week we dove into the subject of Self Sabotage and what it looked like for us in our own individual journey; an exercise of awareness.
Self sabotage can feel complex, and in many ways it is, because typically self sabotage feels JUSTIFIED. It feels rational, logical and ‘realistic’. It’s usually hidden in plain sight.
Playing small, projecting, overcompensating, stalling, self victimising, breaking agreements, etc. There’s usually a story that goes with it. The function of that story is to make self sabotage feel true and reasonable - to keep us safe in the familiar way of being (even if that way of being sucks).
So in our discussion we simplified self sabotage and how to catch it (in order to redirect it).
We created a metaphor: 2 boxes.
The box on the left is called ‘Limitation’.
The box on the right is called ‘Limitless’.
When I look at my choices, my actions, my thought forms, my beliefs, my feelings, my stories and my outcomes - which box do I match them up to?
Limitation (fear)
or
Limitless (power).
Simplify. “Does this thought align me with a limited version of myself - or a limitless version of myself? This feeling, this behaviour, this reaction...which box does it match up with?”
Become observant. Be objective. Be honest. Make your choice - moment to moment.
I’m looking forward to our next group call, feeling the energy continue to build and move us!
