Leaning Into Your Self-expression
I often work with Men in the early stages of their personal growth journey. Continually I observe that many men feel stuck at a certain level of volume, tone, and range in their capacity for self-expression.
The boundless freedom we witness in children, before societal conditioning sets in, seems to diminish over time.
This can feel heavy. Depressing even.
Despite the numbing effect of adulthood’s entrenched identities, there’s a persistent yearning for authentic self-expression.
The vital clue that gets missed is the understanding that self-expression fundamentally involves building a relationship with yourself.
It’s about moving beyond the mental realm and connecting with the inner energies: emotions, spiritual journey, physical sensations, and the impulses guiding and influencing action.
If you don’t know where to start - simply drop into states of presence and curiosity.
What in you needs to be acknowledged and expressed?
When you meet with these parts of yourself, simply follow the signals that are lighting up.
Use your gifts of movement, breath, sound or anything else you’ve got, to animate your inner world to life.
Following through with this requires you to be brave enough to be seen as silly, strange or even a little unhinged.
But trust me, there’s a pay off.
Following through with this will strengthen your authenticity, sovereignty, and ability to express all facets of yourself.
Give it a go, lean into your self-expression, even if it makes you look unhinged, and feel the clarity and freedom that awaits you on the other side.
